On my trip to Niagara Falls I stopped to see the Old Fort Niagara Lighthouse, I was very excited to learn the history of this lighthouse. situated at the mouth of the Niagara River in Youngstown, New York, constructed in 1872. It was built to guide ships navigating the treacherous waters of the Niagara River and Lake Ontario, marking the entrance to the Niagara River from the lake.
The lighthouse stands at 50 feet tall. It became an essential navigational aid for both commercial and recreational vessels and has undergone several restorations throughout its history to preserve its structure and functionality.

Was an exceptionally foggy day. Had to capture it. Love going here. Family friendly place. Has a gift shop that I didn't visit on this visit. Lovely place to learn about history in Niagara County.

Beautiful! My fiance and I went there expecting just a lighthouse. I was going to go take pictures of the lighthouse for my mom.
We didn't expect an entire fort!
Not only was it absolutely BEAUTIFUL, but the entire staff was so friendly!
We have been traveling on vacation for a week and this was supposed to be a quick stop, maybe 30 minutes max. Instead, we walked around and enjoyed ourselves for several hours!
We didn't get to do all the things we had planned for the day because we were there for so long and we didn't regret it at all!
We thoroughly enjoyed it!

A must visit. I did not even know much about it’s history until I visited. They had musket demonstration and actual items on display from the past. Good learning indeed. Thousands of people died, so much bloodshed merely for power.
We also visited the light tower. It has 73 stairs, spiral staircase, only 4-5 people can go up at one time. I liked their gift shop as well. Rest rooms were clean too. They have maintained the fort very well.
